Anxiety, Can Hypnosis Help?

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

I am pretty sure of one thing.

You do not plan to have anxiety?

It is not like you wake up in the morning and think to yourself, This morning I will have my breakfast, go for a walk and at 11 am I will schedule in some anxiety. Of course not. Anxiety can creep up at any time, unannounced. It is an unconscious response.

If it were a conscious response you would not have any trouble with it. You could logically see what was happening, come up with plans to avoid, or just not experience it. As human beings we are very good at dealing with and coming up with solutions to problems we have at the conscious level.

Anxiety, the remnant of a time when being alert meant staying alive, is a very real problem for may people. We can become stuck in fight or flight. And even though in the modern day world we have few real threats to our life. There is that part of us that still monitors this. With a lack of wild beasts waiting to devour us it will take other situations, situations that often logically can seem minor and petty and doom infested, terrifying situation. We find ourselves always switched on, unable to relax, tense, as though we are waiting for something terrible to happen, yet does it ever? We become unable to enjoy and appreciate the things we have now because our radar is switched onto the what if of a future that rarely happens.

There is a way to approach this, it does not rely on drugs or years of therapy.

Hypnosis allows us to access the unconscious mind. That part of you where all beliefs, behaviours and emotions lie. Through the skill of the hypnotist you can be guided into hypnosis, a state of relaxation and focus that happens to feel good as well. In hypnosis the body and mind can remember what it is to relax again.

Once you are in hypnosis A hypnotist will work with your unconscious mind, that part of you where the anxiety is controlled from. Using various skills and techniques the hypnotist will help transform the thought processes, fears and often needs that the anxious behaviour belongs to. Not through a process of logic, but in direct communication with the unconscious mind, allowing you to let go of the anxiety. Unlike other talk therapies, you do not always need to go uncovering painful memories from the past, hypnosis give us the ability to ask the question, what is the problem, how would you rather feel and to make that happen.

Whereas with other therapies you may need to keep attending for months or years, hypnosis get's directly to where the problem lie, creating change on often amazing seeming time.

As a hypnotist I can also teach you techniques, methods of relaxation, meditation and self hypnosis that will give you back the control of how you want to feel, how you want think and how you want to live your life.
