5 Simple Ways to Relax Today

One of the problems in a modern world is that we like to think that everything needs to be more complicated than it is. Take relaxation for instance.

In this article I want to share with you 5 ways that you can relax easily and effortlessly. So lets take a look.

  1. EXERCISE

Now, I know that after a busy day at work the thought of doing more things like exercise may seem just too much, I mean you are exhausted right? However, 8 times out of 10 the exhaustion you are experiencing is a mental block, not a physical reality. Push yourself a little past the block and a little bit of exercise each day can greatly release stress levels, get some endorphins pumping (bodies own feel good chemical) and, well, it is good for you.

2. MUSIC

Was it just me as a kid that when things felt a bit much would go lie on my bed and just listen to music? Or head outdoors and stick my headphones on and lie and watch the clouds pass by. It really used to help. And it has been proven in studies that listening to music can help lower blood pressure, improves our memory, reduces anxiety and also improves the quality of sleep. So, when you feel stressed, take time out and take the advice of your younger self. Let those music vibes do their thing.

3. HOBBIES

Another idea possibly from our childhoods, but if it is simple and it works then great. Discovering a hobby reminds us of things that we enjoy in life. That hobby may also be an exercise or it maybe something else. Whilst we work on our hobbies we are focusing all attention away from the stresses in life, just focusing on one thing. This a little like meditation (also a good hobby) gives you mind space, letting go of the stresses of the world for a while.

4. Tech Fast

One of the major contributors to stress, anxiety, depression and bad sleep in the 21st century is the very technology that we tell ourselves is meant to make life better. Studies have shown the damage constantly being in front of screens, on social media is doing to us as people. So why not go on a tech fast! Schedule time during your week where you do not look at your phone, a computer or even the tv. Especially at nights, an hour off the tech before bed and you will sleep so much better.

5. Self Care

take time for you. Self care does not have to be costly, you do not have to go off for spa weekends. At essence it is about valuing you. As a mind coach I see a lot of people, it never ceases to amaze me how we are more than happy to take time and spend money to maintain our cars, as our vehicle is how we get around, how do you get to that next client, or to work if it breaks down? But, wait a minute, what if you break down, you will not need a car, and yet we seem to feel that we are not an important factor in making life better. A nice soak in a bath, candles, a little meditation, a face pack, a really nice moment where you sit with a brew and give yourself permission to do nothing. All these are aspects of self care, and you are worth it.

As with all this self help stuff, it only works if you put it in to action, so pick something and do it! It is when we start to value ourselves we can begin to notice those things that make life better. At the end of 2022 I ran a survey with 4000 people. What would make life better? The top 3 answers by a long shot were:

Inner Peace

Self Acceptance

Better Self Esteem

As simple as it may sound, any and all of the above mentioned ideas will start to help address these challenges. However, sometimes we need a little help, so if you are struggling with anxiety, stress, self acceptance, self belief then lets have a chat.
